Do you need a security system?

That depends is the answer but probably not the one you wanted. You need to determine your individual needs and requirements and then choose what best fits. It has been statistically shown that a security system does deter crime.

If you search the Internet for “off grid security system” you will find a number of videos that may have useful information.

One company that has a highly rated system is at this link. We have no affiliation and receive no compensation for adding this link. It is one of the options and there are others of course.

New Signs

Your Neighborhood Watch is ordering new aluminum signs. If you live in an area that needs a Neighborhood Watch sign or the one there is worn, please use our Contact Us on the menu bar to provide us the location.

Our signs will be customized with our Website (you are on it now) NSNW.info

Thanks for your support and donations for without your help we couldn’t do the job of watching our area.

Rural Areas have crime too!

It is wise to ask your neighbors to be alert to unusual activity on your property. You of course can do that for their property. Teaming up with your neighbors will help everyone.

Your Neighborhood Watch works with both the Dade and Walker County Sheriffs departments since the New Salem area on Lookout Mountain has property in both counties.

In the fall it is not only time to prepare for cooler weather it is a time to check and do what should be done to protect your home and belongings.

Here is a link to some actions taken by others through out the U.S.

Spring time is here!

It is a great time to go outdoors and enjoy the new growth and pleasant weather. Perhaps you are going to plant vegetables or flowers. Please keep in mind that the deer haven’t had fresh growth to munch on in a long time!

If you can, protect these plantings from hungry deer and other animals that live here with us.

Do not leave your tools and supplies where they can easily be seen from the street!

The bad guys are driving around looking for something easy to grab! If you can store your tools and supplies in a covered area to the side or in back of your home.

No Luncheon on October 28th

For years our annual fund raiser was a luncheon held the fourth Sunday in October. We will not have a luncheon this year but have sent out letters to many residents in the area asking for their support.

There are several new restaurants in the area now and we encourage you to support them when having lunch or dinner.

If you care to donate there are two ways available.

  1. Mail a check to Tom Pounds, 298 Wild Acres Lane, Rising Fawn, GA 30738 make check payable to New Salem Neighborhood Watch.
  2. Donate online https://squareup.com/store/new-salem-neighborhood-watch

Thanks for your past and present support. It is vital and appreciated.
